The competition commenced on 3rd August with 9 pairs taking part. The competition played on a round robin basis was won by John & Di White, with Veronica Fisher & Stuart Alcock taking the runners’ up spot.

Fun Bowls Saturday 3rd September 2022
A total of 33 players dodged the heavy showers to take part in the last fun bowls of the season. The team consisting of Beris, Peter & Marian, and enthusiastically assisted by their grandson Archie, emerged as overall winners. Runners up spot went to Ann, Veronica, Pat Gormley, Sue B & Sue P. A ‘chip shop’ tea was enjoyed by players plus some spectators, and Scooby Doo even made an appearance at the tombola, much to Archie’s delight.
Midsummer Event – Saturday 13th August 2022
A Members only bowls drive with a red, white and blue theme (to celebrate belatedly The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee which had to be cancelled at an earlier event due to bad weather) saw 23 players taking part with John White emerging as the overall winner, Rod Back as runner up and Dee Wilkinson in third. The winner of the ‘best dressed’ competition was David Fulcher with a fantastic hat to go with his outfit. Tom Turner Trophy – 26th June 2022
The Members only competition, consisting of self-selected teams of 3, took place on a warm but pleasantly breezy afternoon. 7 sets of players took part, with the team consisting of Ron & Helen Butler & Dee Wilkinson emerging as overall winners, and John & Di White & Grace Glenton taking the runners up spot. The ‘bring a plate of food to share’ worked well, with a wide variety of sweet & savoury delights available for players, family & friends to enjoy.
Fun bowls- 21st May 2022
On a pleasantly warm afternoon, 9 teams comprising of 4 people enjoyed the Fun Bowls event. There was the challenge of 12 different games per round which were completed 3 times, with a break for tea & biscuits. The winners were Team 6 which consisted of Ron Butler, Helen Butler, David Fulcher & Dee Wilkinson with a total of 3460 points, and the runners up were Team 7 comprising of Beris Blanch, Hannah Blanch, Steve Blanch & Grace Glenton with a total of 2845 points. After the conclusion of play, 39 people enjoyed their ‘chip shop tea’ in the Clubhouse.
2022 season begins ! – Opening of the green & Bowls Drive -16th April
A beautiful Easter Saturday got the new season off to a good start. At the first bowls drive of the year, it was good to see a lot of familiar faces, but equally pleasing to see some new members playing for the first time. Mick Monk was the overall winner, with Phil Parmiter as runner up.
Ukelele Sing along – 25th February 2022
With the removal of Covid restrictions, it was wonderful to see such a good turnout for the much anticipated ‘sing along’ at Spixworth Village Hall. Tea & homemade cakes, served by some of the club’s ladies were enjoyed by all. Hopefully this event is the first of many activities which have been arranged for the new season.
Taverham Brass Band – Last night of the Proms – 23rd April 2022
This quintessential British classical music celebration at Spixworth Village Hall saw Taverham Brass Band perform there first concert in 2022. Much flag waving and singing took place, and made for a most enjoyable patriotic evening.
AGM – 29th October 2021
The AGM was well attended. Steve Benns was elected as the new Chairman and all existing committee members agreed to stand for a further year. Team captains were agreed for the various leagues.
Lee Trophy – 5th September 2021
The competition made up of randomly selected teams, saw 6 sets of triples compete against each other. The overall winners were Ron Butler, Morag McEwan & Jack Stanley, the runners up were Ann Stagg, Beris Blanch & Grace Glenton.
