Last Fun Bowls of 2026 – September 5th

On a warm and pleasant afternoon, a total of thirty eight members, family and friends enjoyed the last Fun Bowls Event of this season.Seven teams took part in the competition, which this time was won by Team 6 with an overall scoreof 3600 points. The winning team consisted of Steve, Beris, Hannah and Amie Blanch together withPeter Betts. Fun Bowls – 18th July

This year’s Fun Bowls and BBQ proved to be another very popular day both with Members, friends & family alike.  Following yet another heatwave, everyone was grateful that the temperature dropped a little, and the weather was very  pleasant for the 60+ people who gathered to enjoy the afternoon whether playing or just watching. 59 players were divided into 10 teams, with the team with five players having their score adjusted when calculating the final scores. In previous Fun Bowls competitions scores of around 5000 points were achieved by the winning team, however,  this time the ‘Course Designing Elves’ made …

CURTIS CUP – 14th June

Sixteen players took part in a bowls drive on a pleasant Sunday afternoon.Playing in pairs they completed three blocks of six ends with the teams randomly changing every sixth end.Each player kept his own individual score and the winner of the drive was John Wade who was on the winning side for all three blocks. He had an individual score of 29 points for and only 6 against.Afterwards the players enjoyed an exceptional ‘bring a plate buffet’ to round off a lovely afternoon.

Fun Bowls -Saturday 16th May

The first Fun Bowls of the new season took place with a record number of members & friends, bowlers & non bowlers taking part in a variety of bowls related challenges. After 2 rounds, the winners were declared as Ray & Sue Flower, Phil & Claire Parmiter & Trevor Stannard, as the majority of teams had an extra player, this was taken into account when working out the final points. After the challenges had finished, the clubhouse was packed to capacity for everyone to enjoy a ‘chip shop’ tea. It was a great team effort from members of the club …

Opening of the Green – 18th April

All members both new & old relished the start of the new season for 2026, and having the chance to ‘swing those arms’ & ‘bend those knees’ again, to get their bowls somewhere near the cot …. hopefully. The weather was kind, apart from a biting wind, but it was fantastic to see the green so full of people enjoying themselves. Here’s to a successful season for the club.

Christmas Ukulele Time – December 5th

This year, the annual Christmas event saw 40 members, friends & family gather to enjoy a pre-Christmas sing-a-long of carols and Christmas songs, before enjoying a feast of afternoon tea consisting of cakes, scones & sausage rolls expertly made by some of the talented lady members, together with tea & coffee. There was a raffle, and funds raised from this and the event were split between club funds and the Ukulele Band’s chosen charity.

Annual General Meeting – 31st October 2025

Members attended the AGM which took place in the clubhouse. Those attending were asked if they wanted to volunteer for any roles within the club, in particular as new captain for the NBA league, as Ron is standing down, which unfortunately no-one did, if anyone will take on this role, please speak to any member of the committee if further information is required. The existing committee were all voted en bloc for a further year.

St Peter’s Church Spixworth Flower Festival

Over the weekend of 21st and 22nd September 2025 St Peter’s Church in Spixworth held a flower festival to celebrate “Our Community Spirit –  Caring and Sharing”.Many of the village organisations were invited to show through flowers, pictures and words the part they play in the village and community life .Spixworth Bowls Club were one of those invited to join in, and two of our members, Diane & Veronica, took up the challenge; they were given an area using the stairs up to the Church Tower to decorate, and they put together a wonderful display using flowers in our club colours, …
